The painting which was previously restored in the 80's, weighs in at 900 pounds total and the lifelike three dimensional presentation of the war is accompanied by music and sound effects. The Battle of Atlanta can also be experienced from a revolving platform that seats 184 visitors via a 14 minute film narrated by the legendary James Earl Jones. Apart from the movie and painting itself, one can visit the Civil War Museum and feast their eyes on the war artifacts collected over time. This includes weapons, tools, photographs and also clothing and uniforms during the American Civil War. Visitors can take advantage on the touch screens to find out more about the war itself and also information about the Cyclorama's history and restoration process. Last but not least the Cyclorama houses the Texas, which is the popular steam locomotive of 1982's Great Locomotive Chase. Visitors can find a bookstore that offers a wide selection of the Civil War books and items in the museum. The Cyclorama and Civil War Museum opens at 9 in the morning and closes at 4.30 in the evening except for Monday.
